These were from a few weeks ago when we were taking the Christmas tree down. He really liked the lights, so I let him fiddle with them for a few minutes and seized the opportunity to snap a few pictures.
Thanks for dropping in! I'm an amateur photographer with hopes of working my way to professional. Feel free to leave comments, and if you have any questions for me visit my Contact page or email me directly at blueacornphoto@gmail.com.

One of my dear friends asked if I would take pictures at her son's 1st birthday party. I was honored to document such a big milestone! I'm not used to doing much indoor work - I generally stick to natural light. But I've been interested in learning more about flash and have wanted to get a better understanding of controlled lighting. And I've known that I needed a much better flash ... the SB-400 just wasn't cuttin' it. So after Christmas I ordered a new flash with some Christmas/birthday money, and my Nikon SB-700 arrived with enough time for me to read the manual and try it out a few times. This birthday party was my first big attempt at getting some decent photos with flash!
Let me just toot my friend's horn for a minute: she did an amazing job on this party! She put a lot of work into the details, and the kids really enjoyed it! My son came down with a fever on the day of the party, so my husband had to stay home with him. I'm still so sad that they missed it :(
He said "oooohhhh" to every present that was opened - so sweet!

Wednesday
Still slowly going through Christmas/post-Christmas pictures. My husband's sister was in town with us for Christmas, so on Christmas afternoon after we packed the car for our long drive, my husband, sister-in-law, son and I went down the street to an empty lot by our house to snap a couple of Merry Christmas photos.
I like this one of my sister-in-law. I especially like that you can see the reflection of the rest of us in her glasses :)

Last night I was working on some pictures from our family visit, and I came across this. I love this one of my son and my mother.
